Phoebe’s New Lease on Life

When Phoebe arrived at Woodrock with another dog who was bullying her, she had lost her confidence and, with it, her personality.

Today, she is a completely different little dog. Her new family has given her the love, care and confidence to rediscover her happy, playful self and a whole new lease on life.

Her mom shares Phoebe’s beautiful journey from a fragile little Frenchie to the adored girl she is today.

“Phoebe stole my heart the moment I met her. She climbed straight onto my lap, and I knew immediately that she was coming home with me.

When Phoebe first arrived, she was a very different little dog. She had health issues, could barely manage a walk down the road, struggled to breathe properly, and was so quiet and withdrawn that she hardly barked or showed much personality at all. We genuinely thought we might need to get her a pram.

Since then, she has completely transformed. After surgery to help her breathe and treatment for her gums, she found her energy, her confidence and, most importantly, her voice. Now she loves long walks, adventures around Cape Town and getting dressed in her little jackets — she gets ridiculously excited when she sees one coming out.

Her best friend is our Staffie, Babka. They sleep together, cuddle constantly, and Phoebe lovingly grooms Babka as though she is her little baby.

Phoebe is also the ultimate Velcro dog. She wants nothing more than to be snuggled up with her mom and dad, preferably as close as physically possible. She is funny, affectionate, completely unique and has the most incredible little laugh.

Watching her go from a depressed, unhealthy little Frenchie into this happy, active, hilarious girl has been one of the greatest joys. We absolutely adore her and genuinely cannot imagine our family without her.”
