Dusty Deserves a Forever Home
At 10 years old, Dusty has already had to start over more than once.
We first came across this Mexican Hairless Dog when Stella, Nicholas and Jacqui rescued him from a dilapidated shelter housing hairless breeds. The animals were living in the most horrific conditions, and we convinced the breeders to surrender the ones most desperately in need of care.
This little fighter was one of them.

It wasn’t easy, but we managed to rehabilitate Dusty, happily he was adopted into a home, where he spent five years.
Yes, he found the security he needed and the love, but when his owner made the choice to immigrate overseas, Dusty was surrendered back to Woodrock.
A Woodrock dog will always be a Woodrock dog, and without hesitation, we welcomed this gentle, sociable boy back into the fold. None of his personality has dimmed: he is wonderful with people, and an awesome chum with other dogs.
But now, at 10, is faces yet another hurdle in his life.
Like many Mexican Hairless Dogs, he has some skin issues, which our medical team is treating and monitoring.
We are also trying something a little different. Our founders, Stella and Nicholas Meldau, recently welcomed their son home on a visit from New Zealand, and he brought a bar of soap made with Manuka honey. Because Manuka honey is known for its antibacterial and soothing properties, we are hopeful it may help Dusty’s skin and will see how he responds. Please join us in keeping our fingers crossed!

For now, Dusty is being cared for by the Woodrock team. But what he really needs is a permanent home where his next chapter doesn’t have to begin again.
