Meet Octavia: A Little Life, A Long Time in the Making
Some arrivals are worth the wait. Meet Octavia, the newest member of the Woodrock family!
Octavia’s story began when her mother was rescued from a farm alongside a group of other donkeys. There was one little detail that would make her arrival especially exciting: her mother was pregnant.
Now, donkey pregnancies are not exactly short affairs. With a gestation period of around 12 to 14 months, there was plenty of time for anticipation to build. And so the Woodrock team waited, keeping a watchful eye on mum and wondering when the newest little arrival would make an appearance.
And then, finally, there she was. Octavia had arrived!
Healthy, beautiful and already making herself at home, she was well worth the wait. Her arrival brought a special moment of joy to the Woodrock team and another reminder of the wonderful things that can happen when animals are given a safe place to land.
Rescue is about more than bringing animals to safety. It is about providing the care, protection and time they need to thrive, and being there for the milestones, big and small, that follow.
