As the tax year draws to a close on 28 February, this is your last week to make a meaningful difference while also receiving a tax benefit.
That’s because, when you donate to Woodrock Animal Rescue before the end of the tax year, your contribution may qualify for a tax deduction under Section 18A of the Income Tax Act.
This means your generosity doesn’t only change lives – it can also reduce your taxable income.

Why Donate Now?
• Your donation rescues.
• Your donation rehabilitates.
• Your donation restores.
• It feeds hungry stomachs.
• It funds sterilisations.
• It supports our clinic.
• It provides safety, dignity and second chances to abandoned and vulnerable animals.
Understanding Section 18A
Section 18A of the Income Tax Act allows taxpayers (individuals and companies) to claim a tax deduction for bona fide donations made in cash or in kind to approved Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs).
Woodrock Animal Rescue is approved to issue Section 18A certificates.
Key Points to Know:
• Donations reduce your taxable income, lowering your income tax liability.
• Both cash and qualifying in-kind donations may apply.
• The deduction is limited to 10% of taxable income (before the deduction).
• Any excess amount may be carried forward to the next tax year.
A valid Section 18A receipt must include:
• Woodrock’s PBO reference number
• Donor name and details
• Date of donation
• Donation amount
To claim after you have made your donation, go to
Please retain your Section 18A certificate for submission with your tax return:
• ITR12 for individuals
• ITR14 for companies
Important to Note
Not all NPOs or PBOs automatically qualify to issue Section 18A certificates. Only organisations specifically approved by SARS may do so.
Woodrock maintains strict compliance and record-keeping in line with SARS requirements.
As always, tax laws may change, and we recommend consulting your tax advisor for large or complex donations.
