Sage: Left to Die, But We Will Not Allow Her to be Forgotten

She was hurt, abandoned, and left alone. This is Sage’s story — and how you can help make sure justice is done.
Sage’s Story
On Sunday, January 11th, Sage, a black-and-white Pitbull-type dog, was found outside Woodrock Animal Rescue in Hennops River Valley. She was critically injured, clearly in pain, and had been abandoned when she needed help most.
All the signs pointed that this girl’s severe injuries and suffering was the result of a brutal and illegal practice.

Sadly, it was also evident that she had puppies and was full of milk. Despite our team’s immediate care, it would not be enough to save her from the pain she was enduring.
Justice for Sage
No animal should endure what Sage went through and we are resolute that she should not be forgotten. We are grateful that the National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) agrees, and are investigating this case as suspected dog fighting, abandonment, and failure to obtain veterinary care. These are serious criminal offences, and Sage deserves accountability.
Woodrock Animal Rescue and the NSPCA are offering a joint reward of R5,000 for information leading to a successful prosecution.
